Who is Luigi Nicolais
Author of over 350 scientific publications, he is Emeritus Professor of “Polymer Technologies” at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Naples “Federico II” and was Director of the “Institute for the Technology of Composite Materials” of the CNR. He is a member of the 2003 Group, a group of Italian researchers who, working in Italy, are included in the ranking compiled by the ISI (Institute for Scientific Information) in Philadelphia, which gathers together the most cited scientists in the world. He has also been a professor at the University of Washington and at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.
He was President of the National Research Council from 18 February 2012 to 18 February 2016.
From May 2006 to May 2008 he was part of the second Prodi government as Minister for Reforms and Innovations in Public Administration.
He was a Member of Parliament of the Italian Republic from April 2008 to February 2012 in the XVI Legislature and Vice-President of the Culture Commission of the Chamber of Deputies.
Today he is President of the Royal Estate of Carditello and of the “Campania Digital Innovation Hub”. He is also founder and President of Materias.
