Artificial intelligence, human genetics, brain-machine interface, tissue engineering: these are just some of the technologies that are deeply changing the relationship between Man and the surrounding nature at a speed never experienced before. Future scenarios are largely unpredictable, except for the fact that our species is rapidly evolving towards something completely different, that has never been experienced in the entire history of humanity. Perhaps the species Homo sapiens is coming to an end, in order to be replaced by something that we are not able to define yet.
However, there are some people who had very keenly sensed this and tried in some way to warn us, such as Primo Levi. In his fictional tales, written more than half a century ago, the author of “If This is a Man” clearly described processes and technologies that are gradually taking shape and becoming reality. With consequences that at the moment we can only try to imagine, not without some concern.
